Srinagar, June 08: The U17 Boys and U7 Boys & Girls Kashmir Province Chess Tournament 2024 concluded on Saturday at the prestigious Srinagar Sports Club in Wazirbagh, Srinagar. The event showcased the remarkable talents of young chess prodigies, marking a significant milestone in the region’s chess landscape.
In the highly competitive U17 Boys category, Hamzah Malik clinched the championship title, demonstrating exceptional strategic prowess and determination. Rizwan Tareen secured the runner-up position with a series of impressive performances, while Malik Huzaif Bin Zahid earned third place. The top two players, Hamzah Malik and Rizwan Tareen, will represent the province at the upcoming JK UT State Championship 2024, a crucial stepping stone towards the national championships.
The U7 categories also saw outstanding performances. In the U7 Girls category, Fizah Faheem Masoodi and Hoor Fatima emerged as the top contenders, showcasing exceptional talent and promise. In the U7 Boys category, Mohammad Ibaad Gundroo displayed remarkable skill, securing the championship and earning a spot in the JK UT State Championship 2024.
The tournament provided a vital platform for young chess enthusiasts to exhibit their skills, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. It underscored the growing popularity of chess in the region and the promising talent being nurtured.
Participants and organizers expressed gratitude for the well-organized event, highlighting its role in promoting intellectual development, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship among youth. The selected players now eagerly anticipate the challenges and opportunities at the state championship, reflecting their dedication and the unwavering support of the chess community in nurturing the next generation of champions.
As the U17 Boys and U7 Boys & Girls Kashmir Province Chess Tournament 2024 concludes, the focus shifts to the JK UT State Championship, where these young talents will strive to excel and secure their places in the national spotlight.
