Training programme of Pashu Sakhis starts at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K

Srinagar, July 11: 17 Days Training Programme of Pashu Sakhis under A-Help started on Tuesday at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K. The programme is sponsored by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and organized by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K. 
The training programme was inaugurated by Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi who was the Chief Guest of the programme. Comptroller, SKUAST-K, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani; Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Kashmir, Dr. Balbir Singh; Scientists of Directorate of Extension; Master Trainers and participants of the training programme attended the inaugural session.
In the training programme 50 rural girls from all districts of Kashmir Valley were participating who shall be given training on breeding, nutrition, feed and fodder, vaccination of sheep and goat so that these trainees will disseminate the technology to other masses.
Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi briefed about the importance of training programme. He stressed upon the need to augment the economy of the rural youth and stressed on entrepreneurship development for empowering women in livestock sector and deliberated upon the importance of self-employment. Prof. Makhdoomi also said that this programme will act as a bridge between animal health, farming community and better produce.
Comptroller, SKUAST-K, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani opined that this training programme will be beneficial for dissemination of Veterinary Services to the grass root level under field conditions and will promote the linkage of lab to field. He further said that 80-90% of economy depends upon animal husbandry and agriculture and women being the force behind rearing the animals.
Dr. Balbir Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Kashmir earlier briefed the salient features of the training programme. He said that the main purpose of the programme is to train the educated females of rural areas of J&K. They will learn about the vaccination, tagging and providing first-aid to the animals of their areas. The theme is the development of women folk in J&K and thanked SKUAST-K authorities for organizing such programmes.
