Bijbihara, Oct 24: In a bid to curb road accidents and enforce stricter traffic safety measures, Traffic Police Rural Kashmir conducted a special enforcement drive targeting traffic violators in the Bijbihara and Awantipora areas of South Kashmir. The drive, led by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh, aimed to address visible traffic law violations, particularly those contributing to road accidents and fatalities.
During the drive, a significant number of challans were issued to violators driving without safety gear, including failure to wear crash helmets or seat belts. Additionally, numerous drivers were penalized for overspeeding, rash and negligent driving, overloading, and operating vehicles with excessive height.
Under the ongoing Road Safety Mission, such enforcement drives will continue to be conducted in the future. Authorities have urged all motorists to adhere to traffic safety regulations, while commercial drivers have been specifically advised to avoid overloading and other dangerous practices that jeopardize both their lives and those of other road users.
Motorists with five or more pending challans are being urged to present themselves before the court for the disposal of their cases. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of their vehicle registrations.
The Traffic Police remains committed to promoting road safety and reducing the risk of accidents on the roads of Kashmir.
