Ganderbal, Aug 29: Elaborate security and logistical measures have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the Annual Gangbal Yatra in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The pilgrimage, which commences from the Naranag Wangath base camp, attracts devotees from across the country who trek to the sacred Gangbal Lake to perform rituals and offer prayers for their ancestors. To ensure the peaceful conduct of the yatra, multiple security agencies including J&K Police, CRPF, Army, and BSF have been deployed along the trekking route and at the high-altitude lake site. Officials said that forces have been stationed at key points to safeguard pilgrims and maintain law and order. The Health Department has dispatched doctors and paramedical teams in advance, while other departments have mobilized staff to provide essential facilities. Drinking water, medical aid, and other necessary services have been arranged along the trek and camping stations.District Administration Ganderbal has directed all stakeholders to extend maximum support to the pilgrims, identifying security, healthcare, and basic amenities as top priorities.A special puja will be held tomorrow at Naranag Wangath before devotees proceed towards Gangbal Lake. The alpine lake holds immense religious significance for Kashmiri Pandits, who consider it a sacred site for performing rituals in memory of their departed loved ones.Pertinent to mention here, each year, Kashmiri Pandits from different parts of the country participate in the yatra. This year too, a significant number of pilgrims are expected, with authorities assuring that all necessary arrangements have been firmly put in place for a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.
