Thieves steal transformer, curtains from Kangan mosque

Ganderbal, Aug 29: In a disturbing incident, unidentified thieves struck Iqbalabad Masjid Shareef in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, making off with an electric transformer and curtains from the mosque.The theft came to light early Friday morning when locals noticed the missing transformer and removed curtains. The incident has sparked outrage among devotees, who condemned the violation of the sanctity of the place of worship.The Masjid Committee urged police to take swift action to identify and apprehend the culprits. Residents also appealed to the district administration and law enforcement agencies to implement stricter preventive measures, emphasizing that such thefts deeply hurt the community’s religious sentiments.Meanwhile, the police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an inquiry into the burglary.
