JAMMU, AUG23: Highlighting the spirit of exploration and human progress, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday told students that “every great advancement in civilization has come from crossing boundaries.”
Addressing a packed TEDx gathering at JK Public School, Kunjwani, the Chief Minister urged young minds to test their limits, speak up, and never allow hesitation or societal expectations to hold them back.
“Set lofty goals. Unless you test your limits, you cannot carve a unique identity for yourself,” he said, adding that factors such as gender, background, or appearance should never be seen as barriers to success.
Abdullah, who attended the event as chief guest, spoke passionately on the theme “Beyond Boundaries”. He said that while some boundaries—geographical, legal, or political, may serve necessary purposes, others are self-imposed, shaped by personal experiences, stereotypes, or fear of failure.
“These limits may be real or imagined, but the key is to question them. Progress has always come from those who dared to push beyond what was thought possible,” he said.
At the same time, the Chief Minister offered a note of caution, reminding students to distinguish between restrictive boundaries and the rule of law. “Go beyond boundaries, but do so lawfully. Goals must never be pursued by breaching the law,” he said.
Encouraging the students to embrace curiosity and perseverance, he advised, “Set many goals and spend your life striving to achieve them. The pursuit itself is worthwhile, no matter what the outcome.”
The event also featured prominent educationists, including Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and Usha Mani, who shared their perspectives on growth, innovation, and the future of learning.
