Srinagar, July 31: A train traveling from Budgam to Banihal was halted at Hiller Shahabad this afternoon after developing technical issues, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded for several hours.
Train No. 04614, scheduled to continue to Sangaldan, was cancelled due to the malfunction. The train later returned to Baramulla, operating as Train No. 04613.
Chief Area Manager of Northern Railways Kashmir, Sakib Yousuf, confirmed that the train encountered technical problems at Hiller Station. “Railway authorities are working to address the technical issues and resume the journey as soon as possible,” Yousuf said.
Passengers at Hiller railway station expressed frustration over the inconvenience. Mehran Nazir, a local resident, said, “We have been waiting for almost two hours. My patience is running out. This delay is disrupting my travel plans.”
Yasmeen Malik, another local, added, “The delay has been ongoing for nearly two hours, and there have been no alternate arrangements. The railway should have managed this situation better instead of leaving us waiting indefinitely.”
The delay has caused significant disruption for passengers with connecting travel plans, highlighting the need for better contingency measures by railways.
