Srinagar, July 30: The Inter District Provincial Level Football Championship for Girls U-14 Wednesday hosted by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) at GCOPE Gadoora, delivered another day of electrifying action as budding footballers from across Kashmir Division showcased their talent in high-octane matches. A statement issued here said that with the league phase concluded, four powerhouse teams Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Bandipora advanced to the semifinals. Srinagar stormed past Budgam with a stunning 6-1 victory, while hosts Ganderbal dominated Bandipora 6-0, setting up a thrilling final showdown today. “The passion and skill displayed by these young athletes are truly inspiring,” said Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K. “These championships are not just about competition; they are about empowering our girls, fostering teamwork, and building a brighter future for sports in J&K.” Meanwhile, at Zone Tullamulla, the Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition for Boys and Girls U-14 saw fierce rallies and dazzling performances at BHSS Wakura, Ganderbal. Young shuttlers battled it out in singles and doubles matches, with winners receiving medals in recognition of their talent. In Anantnag, the Inter Zonal District Level Kho-Kho Tournament for Boys U-14 and U-17 concluded with heart-stopping action. Zone Achabal clinched the U-14 title after a thrilling final against Zone Srigufwara, while Zone Vailoo dominated the U-17 category, overpowering Zone Anantnag to lift the trophy. Simultaneously in Reasi’s Zone Arnas Inter-School Zonal Level Competition for Girls U-19 saw 77 athletes competing in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Badminton, Yoga, and Volleyball. GHSS Arnas emerged Kho-Kho champions, while wrestling and badminton stars like Simple Thakur and Nazia Kousar stole the spotlight. Sports shape character, resilience, and leadership,” emphasised Dwarka Nath, Zonal Education Officer Arnas, during the closing ceremony. “These young athletes are proof of the transformative power of discipline and teamwork.”
