Srinagar: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that nurturing humanity, promoting brotherhood and upholding justice are the pressing necessities of the present time.
Speaking to party members at the Nawa-e-Subha headquarters here, Dr Abdullah said, “The National Conference is far more than just a political entity aiming to win public support for governance, administration and implementing developmental agendas. Since its establishment, the party has been a guiding force for society, striving to combat social evils and promote values of humanity, unity and justice.”
According to a party statement issued here, the NC chief added, “It is essential for our team to persist in promoting values such as brotherhood, unity, equality, justice and humility. We must also speak out against issues like domestic violence, dowry, excessive spending, and drug addiction, both at home and in our workplaces. Practising what we preach is crucial.”
By embodying these principles, we can create a more supportive and just environment for everyone, Dr Farooq said, adding, “Let’s commit to being advocates for positive change and ensure that our actions reflect the teachings we uphold.”
Meanwhile, senior party leaders and former ministers, including Khalid Najeeb Sarowardi, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo and Abdul Gani Malik from the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley, met the party president here. They discussed party affairs concerning the Jammu division and brought to light the issues and hardships faced by the people of the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley. Provincial President Advocate Showkat Ahmad Mir was also present on the occasion.
A delegation of party workers and functionaries from the Bijbehara constituency, led by Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, also called on the NC chief.
