Srinagar, Feb 14: Inspector General Operations CRPF Kashmir sector, M S Bhatia on Tuesday said that sufficient measures have been taken to avoid Pulwama-like attacks in future and stated that there is 24/7 CCTV surveillance along Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
IG Ops CRPF Bhatia was addressing the media on the fourth anniversary of 2019 Pulwama attack after paying tributes to the victims of the attack in the Lethpora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir.
He said after the Pulwama attack, security situation has largely improved in Kashmir. On the ground, there is good synergy between security forces and operations are continuing in the region.
“The terror eco-system has ended in Kashmir and stone pelting, shutdowns are not visible on the ground. There is remarkable progress in the situation and we are proceeding to wipe out terrorism in J&K,” the senior CRPF officer said.
IG Ops CRPF Bhatia said modernization of forces is a longer process and there has been consistent efforts to modernize CRPF.  There is 24/7 CCTV surveillance, 12 security posts along various places on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, he said, adding that drones are also used to monitor situation.
“Besides,  Bomb Disposal Squads, Dog Squads which are well equipped with modern equipment are keeping track on the highways. Bullet Proof vehicles and Mine Proof Vehicles have been recently inducted into the Valley for clean operations, he said.
Replying to a query, IG Ops CRPF Bhatia said the OGW module is being busted before it carries out any major damage.
“We are always taking action in the beginning and neutralizing the module when it takes birth. You have seen several encounters have taken place last year, we are trying to deny that space to terrorists to execute any major damage,” he said.
“The attacks on minority communities are acts of cowardice and those behind such attacks have been killed while measures have been taken to prevent such attacks,” IG Ops CRPF Bhatia said,  adding that what they want to prove by targeting innocents.
“We are determined to protect minorities and in this regard, several modules involved have been neutralized. The CRPF and Police and other security forces have been ensuring protection to the minority community and we will ensure proper security for them,” he said.
IG Ops CRPF Bhatia said intelligence agencies are working on the ground and terror modules are being busted by the security forces. It is being ensured that such an attack does not happen in future,” he said.
