Sports play important role in physical, mental development of students: Dir Education

Srinagar, Oct 10: On the eve of Annual Sports Day, Director School Education Kashmir Dr.TasaduqHussain Monday inaugurated a two-day ‘Sports Mela’ at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rajbagh.
As per the spokesperson, Director Education Department Kashmir, also chief guest on the annual sports day being celebrated at the GHSS Rajbagh, declared the Sports Mela open in presence of 300 students and other officials.
A total of 100 Students are taking part in different sports including football, khokho, shot put, chess and Carrom etc.
Speaking on the occasion Dr.Tasaduq said that he is happy to see that students are taking part in sports besides their studies.
“Sports play an important role in the physical and mental development of students, besides improving concentration and relieving their stress and anxiety, ” he said.
The director added that National Education Policy also emphasises on sports besides imparting education to children.
“COVID-19 pandemic has left students with no option but to confine them to their homes, causing a lot of stress, trauma among them but these types of sports activities will help students to overcome that and will bring their life to normal,” he said.
Earlier on a few months ago, the Director had inspected the said institution and was impressed after watching students giving a presentation on his surprise visit at the institution.
