A 75-year-old mother with impaired vision cast her vote at a polling station in Sagipora, Rafiabad constituency, with the hope of securing her son’s release, who has been behind bars for the last three years.

Bibi Begum, wife of the late Abdul Aziz Kumar, shared her sorrowful story after voting. Struggling with low visibility, she reached the polling station with the assistance of others. “I could hardly make my way here. But I came to cast my vote so that my voice is heard, and my son can be freed,” Begum said tearfully.

Begum said “Her son was taken away by authorities during a night raid several years ago and remains arrested.” With no one to advocate for his release, the elderly mother feels helpless. “I have no means, no one to help me bring my son home. I appeal to the government and the people to help me. I just want my son back,” she said, tears streaming down her face.

Her husband passed away several years ago, leaving her in a vulnerable position. One son is paralyzed after a fall from a tree, and another works as a laborer but struggles to make ends meet. The elderly woman, now dependent on others for basic survival, is desperate for her imprisoned son to return and provide some support.

As her emotional plea was captured on video, it quickly went viral on social media. Dozens of users came forward to support her cause, urging the government to release her son and reunite him with his mother.
