Baramulla, Sept 10: Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, in collaboration with Smile Train Organization Khyber Medical Institute, alongside the DEIC / RBSK Centre Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, organized a free screening camp today for children suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate anomalies.
The event, held at Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, marked a significant milestone in providing essential medical support to underserved communities in the district.
Pertinent to mention here, Smile Train is a global non-profit organization dedicated to providing free cleft lip and palate surgery and comprehensive care for children in need.
Through a network of medical partners, Smile Train works to improve the lives of children with cleft conditions and empower communities with the knowledge and resources to address these challenges.
Throughout the day, approximately 40 children from remote areas of District Baramulla were screened and evaluated for further treatment. The free screening aimed to identify cleft lip and palate anomalies early, enabling timely intervention and comprehensive care.
The Smile Train Organization, a renowned non-profit entity, is dedicated to sponsoring free surgeries for children affected by these conditions. In addition to the screening, the Smile Train Organization conducted an informative seminar for SNCU and labor room staff, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment of cleft anomalies.
The seminar provided valuable education and raised awareness about cleft lip and palate, enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals in identifying and managing these conditions.
The screening camp was graced by the presence of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla, Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, (Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi), Head of the Department of Dentistry, Head of Pediatrics, and the in-charge of the DEIC Unit along with other section incharges.
