SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR BRIDES : Let your Skin Glow!

Since time immemorial it has been the desire of every woman to have radiant and flawless skin. This is possible only by maintaining a proper skincare. A healthy skin does not happen by miracle; it needs commitment. The goal should be to wear less makeup and let your skin shine through. Marriage season is coming, and every bride would desire her  skin to glow on the most important day of her life. This pre-bridal skincare routine will set your skin straight and give you that bridal glow of your dreams.
Morning (AM) Routine: Morning care should include Vit-C serum to nurture and protect your skin from oxidative stress. Next comes a ceramide based moisturizer followed by application of a broad spectrum sunscreen.
 
Night (PM) Routine: For night opt for effective  antiageing ingredients like retinol serums, AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), resveratrol to repair and rejuvenate the skin overnight.
 
Sun protection : Sun protection is mandatory when it comes to achieving a healthy skin. While planning to achieve a festive glow make sure you avoid sun exposure for longer durations and reapply sunscreens without any misses.
 
In our clinical practice, we encounter women  who are getting married but are low on their self-esteem because of a multitude of skin related concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, scarring etc. Depending upon the type of skin issue, the patients should know what to start the treatment, before it is too late.
 
(a)    Acne Management: One of the most common skincare concerns should be treated immediately to avoid pigmentation and scarring.Acne tends to me the most unwanted guests days before the main event. To avoid this situation use soothing and calming  ingredients (cicabio) and mild topical antibiotics. And most importantly choose non-allergenic and non-comedogenic makeup products.
 
(b)    Pigmentation treatment: Dark and tanned skin and post acne marks are one of the common concerns. Sessions with pigmentary lasers can be started 3-4 months prior.
 
 
(c)     Scar treatment for acne or other scars should be started at least 6 months prior, usually 6-8 sessions  of are required for satisfactory results.
 
(d)    Unwanted Facial & Body Hair :  Six months is an ideal time for starting Laser Hair Reduction. Nearly 80-90 percent reduction can be achieved within 6-8 sessions, spaced 1 month apart.
 
 
(e)    Uneven Skin tone: It is one of the most common concerns. Various procedures like microneedling,  vampire facials and carbon lasers should be considered 4-5 months prior wedding.
 
(f)     Double Chin: Brides and grooms who are unhappy with their double chin can opt for various non-invasive treatments like HIFU (High Intensity focussed ultrasound), SARD (Sub dermal adipose remodelling) and fat dissolving injections.All this should ideally be started 5-6 months prior the wedding date.
 
 
(g)    Dermal Fillers for Lips, Undereyes and Cheek Augmentation: It is one of the most commonly performed procedures with instant results. Be it treating under eye dark circles, thin lips or getting chiseled jawline, dermal fillers are the answer. Ideal time is 3-4 months before the wedding.

Beware of Shabby Skin Centres

Many shabby centres  use low-budget Chinese and Korean replicas/look-alikes of the lasers which will do no good , instead may cause irreversible damage to the skin .There is a very thin line between treating the face with energy based devices and devastating the face together. So, value your time and money, don’t fall in the trap and always get your facial treatments done from a board certified dermatologist (MBBS, MD/DNB).
