Jammu, Feb 16: A three-day course on “Human Rights & Criminal Justice System” concluded in S K Police Academy Udhampur on Thursday. Twenty-three officers of the rank of SI to Dy.SP from different wings of J&K Police participated in the programme.
There were wide-ranging deliberations on Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India, UN declarations particularly conventions on the Rights of Child, CEDAW, vulnerable groups of women and children, etc.
Eminent speakers including Kamal Sharma, Chief Prosecuting Officer from CID Hqrs, Dr. Mahesh Koul, Post-Doctoral Fellow Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) New Delhi, Asstt. Prof. SKUAST Jammu, Dr. Savita Nayyar, Department of Law, University of Jammu, Sheikh Shakeel, Advocate, High Court Jammu and Speakers from this Academy Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, delivered lectures and shared their valuable experiences with the participants.
A valediction function was organized in the Academy. Pawan Kumar Sharma, JKPS, SP, Dy. Director (Outdoor) was the chief guest on the occasion. In his valedictory address, he emphasized the participating officers to adhere to the guidelines and rules related to human rights while handling law and order situations, investigation, interrogation and other related situations. He stressed upon the participants to share the knowledge gained during the training programme with their fellow policemen to make society feel safe and dignified.
The course was coordinated by Sunmati Gupta, Dy.SP, SKPA, and assisted by Nissar Mahmood Naik Inspector member faculty.
