Samba, Aug 25: The district of Samba came alive today with a vibrant celebration on the eve of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival, as devotees gathered in large numbers to participate in a grand Shobha Yatra at the historic Narsingh Dev Ji Temple in Ghagwal. The event was carefully arranged by the Shri Narsingh Temple Committee under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Samba, who also serves as the Chairman of the Temple Committee.
The Yatra was officially inaugurated at the Narsingh Temple complex by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, in the presence of SSP Vinay Kumar. The procession featured a beautifully decorated chariot carrying the idol of Lord Shri Krishna and traveled through the villages of Raguchak, Malani, and Lala Chak. Devotees from these villages joined the procession, enhancing the spiritual fervor of the event.
A brief halt was made at the Rajpura Ram Temple, where participants were offered refreshments by local residents. The Yatra then continued its route through the villages of Sanura, Randhwal, Jatwal, and Tapyal, before returning to the Narsingh Temple complex.
Local communities played a vital role in the event’s success by providing food, water, and other refreshments at various stops along the route, ensuring all participants were well cared for. The atmosphere was filled with devotion as the sounds of bhajans and kirtans echoed, with children dressed as characters from the life of Lord Krishna adding a colorful touch to the festivities.
In his address, Sharma highlighted the importance of such events in promoting community spirit and preserving cultural heritage. He expressed his gratitude to the participants, local communities, and volunteers for their enthusiastic involvement and support.
The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including ADC Jagdish Singh, SDM Sunaina Saini, Tehsildar, BDO and other senior officials from the district administration. Members of the Temple Committee, along with numerous volunteers and representatives from various political parties, were also present, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
The Shri Narsingh Temple Committee, known for its dedication to upholding religious and cultural traditions, has been organizing the Shobha Yatra annually as part of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. The event also includes a Jagran and a grand fair, which attract thousands of devotees and visitors each year, further enhancing the cultural fabric of the region.
