Kargil, May 19: Shahnaz Parveen from Sankoo, Kargil, UT Ladakh, has made history at the 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship held in Vietnam. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, Shahnaz won her semifinal match in the Team Under 30 Female category and secured an impressive 8th place in the finals of the Group Women Under 30 category.
The Secretary of the District Kargil Olympic Association, Syed Mehraj Uddin Shah, extended heartfelt congratulations to Shahnaz for her outstanding achievement. He remarked that her success is a proud moment for the entire region. Shah also expressed gratitude to India Taekwondo for their exceptional support and for providing Shahnaz with the platform to compete internationally.
Shahnaz thanked her coach, Master Atul Pangotra, for his unwavering support and guidance. She believes that reaching such a milestone would not have been possible without him. She also expressed her appreciation to Namdev Shirgaonkar, President of India Taekwondo, for his support and management, which fostered a positive and encouraging atmosphere for the athletes.
Shahnaz highlighted that Namdev Sir’s motivation and encouragement were instrumental in her achievement and in India’s overall success at the Asian Championship. Her journey is an inspiration to young athletes across the country, particularly in the newly formed UT Ladakh, proving that dedication and hard work can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.
