Srinagar, Nov 05: Several members of the J&K Legislative Assembly on Tuesday called on Minister for Jal Shakti, Forests and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana at the Civil Secretariat here.
Narinder Singh Raina, MLA R S Pura, Professor Gharu Ram, MLA, Suchetgarh, Ch Vikram Randhawa, MLA Gandhi Nagar, Arvind Gupta, MLA Jammu West discussed with the minister issues pertaining to water supply and other vital concerns of public importance regarding their respective constituencies.
They brought to the notice of the minister the issue of rampant use of private tankers in some areas of Jammu city and requested for rationalization of water supply in the city and its peripheries like Bhatindi, Chowadi, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Narwal, Bahu Fort, Talab Tillo, etc.
They highlighted the irrigation problems being faced by the farmers during the crop season, especially in border areas of Suchetgarh and R S Pura.
The minister assured the legislators that the government will take all possible measures to provide adequate and safe drinking water to all households in the projected areas. He assured of addressing irrigation problems in R S Pura within the shortest possible time.
Rana, while interacting with the MLAs, urged them to extend their cooperation to the government in addressing vital issues of public importance in their respective areas. He asked them to continue to work for the welfare of the common masses with greater vigour and commitment.
