Anantnag, Aug 14: A remarkable stride in the battle against drug addiction has been achieved with seven Panchayats declared “Nasha Mukt” by authorities in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to officials, after the efforts under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, seven Panchayats in Anantnag have achieved “Nasha Mukt” status in the district.
The officials said that Chitergul-C, Sofipora, Lehandajan, Ganeshpora, Badigam, Shairgund, and Khairbugh have successfully attained the coveted “Nasha Mukt” status.
The District Administration Anantnag held a ceremony in this regard and the Sarpanchs of these Panchayats were honoured. The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Anantnag, S F Hamid.
The DC expressed gratitude to the residents of these panchayats for their unwavering support and collaboration. He said the stringent criteria these panchayats fulfilled to earn the ‘Nasha Mukt’ distinction, stressing the district’s commitment to eradicate the menace entirely.
We are making efforts to make more panchayats on track to achieve this status, underlining the importance of public support in this ongoing endeavor, the DC said. He also shed light on the crucial role parents, teachers, civil society, and law enforcement agencies play in curbing drug-related issues.
Our aim is to declare more Panchayats ‘Nasha Mukt’ in the near future, Hamid said, adding, “We are resolute in our mission to make the Anantnag district entirely drug-free, and the invaluable support of the community is crucial.”
