Secy PWD urges people to collaborate with govt to expedite dev initiatives

Reasi, Feb 09: Secretary, Public Works Department, Bhupinder Kumar on Friday urged people to collaborate with government departments to expedite development initiatives. He encouraged them to avail the benefit of various schemes sponsored by both the Central and UT administrations.
Chairing a public outreach cum grievances redressal camp at Government High School, Sersundwan in Bhomag, Kumar reassured the people that all genuine grievances and demands would be accorded priority and addressed effectively. The primary objective of the camp was to foster direct engagement between the public and government officials with an emphasis on resolving the grievances and concerns of the locals.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupinder reaffirmed the LG government’s commitment towards ensuring that every area within the region is connected with roads. He elaborated on the transformative impact of projects like the world’s highest bridge in Chenab, which not only enhanced connectivity but also bolstered tourism fostering economic growth in the region. “Efforts are underway to provide road connectivity in the unattended habitations, ensuring no community is left behind in the journey towards progress,” he said.
The Secretary exhorted the women fraternity to establish homestays near the world’s highest Chenab Bridge to raise their income. He emphasized the potential for self-income generation through such ventures, highlighting the importance of community engagement and entrepreneurship.
Chairperson District Development Council, Saraf Singh Nag, emphasized the importance of resolving issues timely in ensuring effective development. Issues raised by the participants, during the camp, inter alia included construction of Dak Banglows, up-gradation of schools and school buildings, water scarcity, road connectivity, promotion of Sersundwan as a tourism village, initiation of RTC bus services, fresh surveys for PMAY and BPL, acceleration of work on the bridge over Anji and clearance of pending road compensations, monkey menace.
The local community apprised the Secretary regarding severe water scarcity issues stemming from the ongoing construction of railway tunnels in the area. On the occasion, various departments installed their stalls, showcasing a diverse range of central and UT government schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan, underscored the significance of efficient water management, acknowledging the challenges faced by the area in this regard. He outlined plans to alleviate water scarcity by diverting water from tunnels with the collaborative efforts of the railway and the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) department. The students of GHS Sersundwan presented a mesmerizing cultural programme like traditional Kud dance.
The residents of Sersundwan presented a memorandum of demands to the Administrative Secretary during the grievances camp.  ADDC, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, SSP Mohita Sharma, PO Poshan, Mohammad Anwar Banday, ACR Anshumali Sharma, SE PWD and PMGSY, ACD, Tehsildar, BDO and other senior district officers were present on the occasion.
