Srinagar, June 22: Chief Secretary AtalDulloo on Saturday said that the security of the AmarnathYatra is the administration’s top priority.
Duloo was speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting to review the arrangements at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp.
“We have come to oversee the arrangements and had a meeting with officers of various departments concerned,” he told reporters.
“Almost all arrangements are in place, and we are working to ensure better facilities for pilgrims to make their stay comfortable,” he added.
On facilities, Duloo said that there has been significant increase in the capacity of lodgmentcenters and other facilities for the pilgrims this year.
“Adequate security measures are being put in place. Whatever needs to be done will be done, as yatra security is our top priority,” he said.
The 52-day pilgrimage will commence on June 29 via the traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the Baltal route in Ganderbal. The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar on June 28 and the yatra will start in Kashmir the next day.
