Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, security measures have been tightened in parts of the region.

Security personnel have kept vigil at the railway station and dog squads have been pressed into service to detect any explosives that may be kept hidden.

The security personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police have checked at Guwahati railway station, and trains to prevent any untoward situation.

The security personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police along with a dog squad conducted patrolling at Guwahati Railway Station, ahead of Independence Day.

Mohammad AB Khan, Sub-Inspector of RPF in Guwahati said that adequate security arrangements have been made at Guwahati railway station ahead of Independence Day.

“Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, we have tightened the security measures at the Guwahati Railway Station. We check railway tracks, trains, luggage, and entry/exit points of the railway station. We are on alert mode to prevent any untoward situation. We conduct patrolling on railway tracks from time to time and a dog squad is also at work inside the railway station…”, said Mohammad AB Khan.

Notably, as India gears up to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the citizens of the nation to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a mass movement by hoisting the national flag at their homes.

Changing his profile picture on social media to ‘Tricolour’, PM Modi further urged everyone to change their profile picture to the same.
