Second National Curling Championship concludes at Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Jan 08: Second National Curling Championship 2022-23 successfully concluded on 7th January 2023 at Gulmarg.  The championship witnessed keen contests between 300 players from across 15 states of India, in various disciplines under the sub junior, junior and senior categories. 
Uttrakhand won the gold medal at the 2nd National Curling Championship in the senior category followed by Jammu & Kashmir winning silver and Bronze went to Andra Pradesh. Jammu & Kashmir won gold in the Junior and Sub-Junior category, while State of Haryana and Andra Pradesh won Silver and Bronze respectively.
The Jammu & Kashmir Curling Association, which organised the tournament under the aegis of the Curling Federation of India (CFI) with support from the Jammu & Kashmir sports council, put together a magnificent spectacle.
Dr RashmiSaluja, Executive Chairperson, Religare Enterprises Ltd.  and also the President, CFI, while announcing the closing of the games said, “The second National Curling Championship has been a magnificent exhibition of India’s talent in Curling. It has built on the success of the first edition held last year. The enthusiasm of the participants and the spectators has gladdened my heart. I’m sure that in the coming days, we will see the sport of Curling becoming more popular in India. Religare will continue to promote and patronise Curling as we believe that India has the potential to scale great heights in sports. We acknowledge the support of the Indian Olympic Association in organising the splendid event.”
Padma Shree YogeshwarDutt, Indian wrestler & Olympian and executive member, Indian Olympic Associationwas also present at the event’s conclusion. He said, “I’m amazed at the level of talent that I saw here. The performances here have convinced me that India will achieve many milestones in Curling in the days to come. Soon, we may see a podium finish in the Winter Olympics. I’m sure that the Religare Group will continue to make efforts to further establish and popularise the sport in India.
