Jammu, Dec 31: Sat Sharma is likely to be reappointed unopposed as the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit.
As part of the ongoing organisational elections of the J&K BJP, the election for the president is scheduled to take place over three days, from January 10 to January 12, 2025.
“The party high command wants the J&K President to be elected unopposed and through consensus within the party,” highly placed sources within the BJP told Rising Kashmir. They added that Sat Sharma has emerged as the consensus candidate for the position.
As per BJP’s tradition, presidents at both the state/UT and national levels are typically elected unopposed and through mutual agreement among party members. Sat Sharma was initially appointed as the Working President of the J&K BJP during the Assembly elections.
Sources further revealed that the BJP high command has informed the J&K unit that Sat Sharma will continue as the party’s chief, solidifying his leadership role in the region.
Currently, the party is conducting elections for booth presidents, which began on December 25, coinciding with the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Following the completion of booth president elections, the process for electing Mandal Presidents started on Tuesday and will continue till January 2, 2025. Subsequently, elections for District Presidents of the J&K BJP will be conducted from January 5 to January 7, 2025.
The final step in this organisational process will be the election for the new president of the J&K BJP, scheduled from January 10 to January 12, 2025.
