Sakeena Itoo reviews identification of new construction site for GMC Handwara

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today chaired a meeting to assess the possibilities for identification of new site for construction of Government Medical College, Handwara.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani; MLA Trehgam, Mir Saifullah; MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone; MLA Kupwara, Mir Mohammad Fayaz; MLA Karnah, Javid Ahmad Mirchal; MLA Lolab, Kaiser Jamsheed Lone; MLA Langate, Sheikh Khursheed and Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah.

During the meeting, Sakeena Itoo emphasised on the importance of this prestigious institution for the far flung areas of Kupwara district. She advised the MLAs of district Kupwara to identify a patch of land which will be accessible and feasible to all areas of Kupwara district.

During the meeting, the MLAs gave their suggestions regarding establishment of GMC Handwara at an alternate site.

The meeting unanimously decided that the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara shall take immediate steps to identify the land and transfer it in favour of Health and Medical Education department on top priority, keeping in view the urgency of this issue of high public importance.
