Jammu, May 09: Rainawari Kashmiri Pandit Action Committee (RKPAC), the apex body dedicated to preserving and safeguarding the religious and cultural heritage of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in Rainawari, Srinagar, conducted elections to appoint its new office bearers. All eight contestants were elected unanimously to their respective posts.
The newly elected office bearers are as follows: Bushan Lal Jalali as President, Surinder Kumar Kaul as Senior Vice-President, Rakesh Kumar Hangloo as general secretary, Dr. Mahesh Kaul as joint Secretary, Anil Kumar Kachroo as Treasurer, Suman Sharma Mahaldar, Shiban Lal Kher, and Krishan Ji Bhat as Members.
The elections were overseen by Ravinder Razdan, who served as the Election Authority. The results were declared at the Sri Sri Sharika Chareshwari Jagat Amba Sanastha, Hari Parbat, Doke Paloura, Jammu, where Ravinder Razdan issued the official notification and announced the names of the elected candidates.
In his inaugural address after being elected, Bushan Lal Jalali, the newly appointed President of RKPAC, expressed gratitude to the Kashmiri Pandit community of Rainawari for their unwavering faith in the elected candidates. He reiterated the committee’s commitment to safeguarding all temples, lands, and properties, including shopping complexes, within and outside Rainawari, Srinagar. Notably, the inclusion of a female member in the team underscores RKPAC’s dedication to women empowerment.
Jalali emphasised RKPAC’s legacy of resisting efforts by land usurpers and subversives to encroach upon temples and their lands in Rainawari. He pledged to uphold the rich religious legacy of their ancestors and called upon other Kashmiri Pandit Temple Committees across Kashmir to democratize their management and collaborate in reclaiming temples and lands to reverse the genocide suffered by the community.
Rakesh Kumar Hangloo, the General Secretary of RKPAC, extended gratitude to Ravinder Razdan for conducting free, fair, and smooth elections, ensuring the democratic process was upheld.
