Jammu, Nov 07: Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Jammu (BIS-Jammu).
The MoU signing ceremony was held at GCET Jammu and was graced by esteemed dignitaries who witnessed the signing of the agreement by Principal GCET Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma, in the presence of Ashish Kumar Dwivedi (SPO) BIS-JKBO, a representative from BIS-Jammu, and several faculty members from GCET Jammu.
The occasion was honoured by the presence of key personalities, including Sohan Lal, Registrar GCET Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Simmi Dutta, Head, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chander Dubey, Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Er. Sanjeev Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Raman Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Heera Saini, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics, and Er. Surjit Singh, Senior Laboratory Technician.
Expressing gratitude for the collaboration, Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma thanked BIS-Jammu for the positive relationship fostered with GCET Jammu over the past one and a half years. “The MoU signifies a shared commitment to organizing workshops, exposure visits, and industrial tours for students across various industry sectors within the state. Through this collaboration, students at GCET Jammu will gain access to enhanced growth opportunities and exposure to real-world industry practices,” he said.
The workshops and visits facilitated by BIS-Jammu will offer valuable insights into the operations of diverse industries in the state, contributing significantly to the holistic development of the students. The event was coordinated by Dr Rajinder Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, and Mentor of the Standards Club at GCET Jammu.
GCET Jammu is now the third technical institution in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside IIT Jammu and NIT Srinagar, to have signed a MoU with BIS-Jammu. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance, and the overall development of the students.
