Reasi District Volleyball Championship: Hurricane Club Pouni, Kalika Club Judda reach final

Jammu, Jan 05: The two-day Reasi District Volleyball Championship was held at General Zorawar Singh Stadium Reasi, under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council to promote sports in general and volleyball games in particular across the Union Territory.
The championship is being organised for the first time since the emergence of the Reasi district from the erstwhile Udhampur district. Eight teams drawn from various parts of Reasi participated in the championship. 
The teams included Mama Volleyball Club Judda, Hurricane Volleyball Club Pouni and others from far-off places part in the championship.
At the outset, Naresh Kumar, the volleyball coach, administrated a pledge to all participants to play the game in a true sportsman spirit. Iftikhar Qureshi Dysp Hqs, Reasi, formally inaugurated the championship and thanked the Volleyball Association of Jammu & Kashmir for incorporating Reasi district in the volleyball arena of JK UT. He also unveiled the programme of police being undertaken under civic action program in the district to channelize the energies of youth towards sports and drug de-addiction.
Vijay Kumar Magotra, General Secretary VAJK disclosed that the association is conducting volleyball championships in all districts of JK UT. He expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K Sports Council and sports lovers of Reasi for making the championship possible.
On the occasion, the chief guest was honoured with a memento. Vijay Kumar, SHO Reasi, who was the guest of honour, was also presented a memento. The event was held under the supervision of Naresh Kumar, Pankaj Sharma, Karan Rajput, and Riaz while the matches were officiated by Parvinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar (referee) and Keshav (scorer).
Match Results
City VB Club Reasi defeated Kalika Club by 2-1 (28-26, 23-25, 15-10)
Hurricane Club defeated Mama Club by 2-1 (24-26, 25-23, 15-12)
Salal VB Club defeated Polytechnic Club by 2-0 (25-12, 25-16)
Sailanjan VB Club defeated GDC Pouni by 2-0 (25-17, 25-18)
1st Semifinal in which Kalika VB Club defeated Salal VB Club by 2-0 (25-16, 25-20)
2nd Semifinal in which Hurricane VB Club defeated Sailanjan VB Club by 2-0 (25-17, 25-22)
The final match will be played on Friday (January 6) between Kalika Volleyball Club and Hurricane Volleyball Club.
Karan Rajput of Hurricane Volleyball Club Pouni, and Vipan of Kalika Club showed outstanding performance in their respective matches.
