Srinagar: Renowned RTI activist and Kashmiri social activist, Rakesh Handu, has written a letter to the Engineer of the Public Works Department (R&B), Raj Bagh Srinagar, requesting the reallocation of building numbers for the upcoming Zewan Transit Accommodation for PM Package employees.
In his letter, Handu highlighted a significant issue with the current building numbering system, which he described as disorganized and lacking a systematic or sequential order.
He pointed out that the existing DPR (Detailed Project Report) numbers for the 39 blocks are not allocated in a logical or structured manner. This, Handu believes, is causing inconvenience for residents who are expected to live in these buildings.
Handu has urged the concerned authorities to allocate building numbers from A1 to A39, in a sequential and systematic manner, starting from the bottom block to the top.
This would not only help residents easily identify their respective blocks but also avoid confusion and ensure smoother management of the accommodation facilities.
According to Handu, a proper and organized numbering system is essential for effective administration and for providing a hassle-free living experience to employees under the PM Package. He emphasized that failure to implement a structured numbering system could lead to future complications for residents and authorities alike.
The letter calls for immediate attention to this matter, ensuring that the necessary corrections are made before the accommodation blocks are handed over for occupancy. Rakesh Handu’s appeal is seen as a timely reminder to the administration to prioritize the convenience of residents and the smooth functioning of public welfare projects.
