Jammu, Sept 06: The Railways has announced a temporary unreserved local train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Sangaldan (SGDN) to assist passengers stranded due to incessant rains and flash floods that have damaged roads in Reasi and Ramban districts.

The initiative, sanctioned by DRM/Jammu, is aimed at restoring critical connectivity and providing immediate relief to affected travellers.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Jammu Division, told Rising Kashmir that the special service will operate for five days, from September 8 to September 12, 2025, and will stop at intermediate stations including Reasi, Bakkal, Dugga, and Swke.

He said this train service will serve as a vital lifeline until road networks are fully functional and travel by road is safe.

“The SVDK–SGDN flood special will run with Train No. 04685 departing SVDK at 08:40 Hrs, while the return service from SGDN, Train No. 04686, will depart at 14:15 Hrs,” he said.

Singhal added that the train will also be linked with trains 64651 and 64652 at Sangaldan to ensure broader passenger connectivity across the region.

The railway authorities have urged passengers to plan their journeys according to the temporary schedule and follow all safety advisories.

The special service is expected to significantly ease the movement of stranded residents and maintain essential travel routes until road restoration work is completed.
