Khour, March 23: The Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha Khour marked the 648th Prakash Utsav of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj with immense devotion and enthusiasm at Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj in Khour on Sunday. The event witnessed a large gathering of devotees and distinguished guests, reflecting the deep spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion.
Director Finance, Darshan Loach, attended as the chief guest and, in his address, emphasised the importance of unity and education in light of Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings. In a generous gesture towards community development, he announced a donation of Rs 50,000 to establish a library within the Gurudwara premises, promoting education and knowledge-sharing.
Renowned spiritual leader Pathi Santosh Ji delivered an inspiring sermon, urging the Sangat to embody compassion, unity and wisdom, as taught by Guru Ji. Sham Lal Basson, President of the All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch and former corporator, highlighted the relevance of Guru Ji’s message in addressing contemporary social challenges, including drug addiction. He quoted Guru Ji’s words: “Ravidas Madira Kya Pijiye, Jo Chadha Chadhe Utraye. Naam Maharas Pijiye Jo Chadhe Nahi Utraye,” encouraging the devotees to seek spiritual enlightenment and understand the transformative power of education and self-awareness. The event also featured addresses from distinguished speakers, including Er. Ramesh Bhasin, Convenor of the Adhoc Committee of All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha (Regd.), Prof. Chaman Lal Shivgotra, Darshan Lal Kalsotra (Chairman Election Board) and Er. Surinder Devgowda (Retd. Xen). Students who delivered bhajans and speeches were honoured for their contributions. The celebration concluded with the felicitation of various dignitaries and contributors, including Darshan Loach, Er. R.C. Bhasin, Des Raj Sangral, Pt. Ashok Kumar, Girdhari Lal (Retd. ZEO), Ramesh Chander, Raj Kumar, Bansi Lal Babu Ram, Madan Lal, Jagatter Lal, Pawan Kumar, Mohan Lal, Ganesh Dass, Kali Dass, Ramesh Chander, and other prominent personalities. Women ‘sewadars’ played an integral role in managing the Sangat and serving langar during the event.
