Srinagar, Dec 29: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended the efforts of the Power Development Department (PDD) and Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department in addressing the disruptions caused by recent heavy snowfall.
“Out of 41 dysfunctional 33KV feeders, 37 have been restored and charged. Similarly, 639 out of 739 affected 11KV feeders have been recharged, providing significant relief to the valley,” said the Chief Minister. He added that the majority of the remaining feeders are expected to be restored by evening, lauding the relentless efforts of the PDD team in challenging conditions.
Omar Abdullah also praised the R&B Department for their prompt action in clearing snow from roads and lanes. “They quickly opened main roads and then continued efforts as per priority schedules. Today, their focus has been on smaller roads and inner lanes,” he noted.
The snowfall had earlier damaged power infrastructure and disrupted electricity supply, especially in parts of South Kashmir. Despite the challenges, the coordinated response from both departments has brought relief to the people and restored a sense of normalcy.
