Police seizes 14 vehicles, arrests 14 persons in Ganderbal during May 2023

Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 14 vehicles and arrested 14 persons during the month of May in District Ganderbal. 

Under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Special Police teams to check the menace of illegal mining in the District were constituted. The teams were led by SHOs and DOs of Police Stations and Police Posts of the district under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Shri Muzaffar Jan-JKPS & DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS. During the course of action, 14 persons were arrested & 14 vehicles (13 Tippers, 01 Tractor) were seized who were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals during the month of May-2023.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation has been taken up.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
