Srinagar, Nov 29: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, assured on Friday that anti-terror operations will continue across the Jammu region to dismantle the terror ecosystem and its networks. Addressing the media, Jain said that extensive search operations are currently underway to target terror infrastructure and support networks.
“The massive search operations are going on in all the districts of the Jammu region to crack down on the terror ecosystem and networks, and eliminate their presence,” ADGP Jain stated.
Jain further explained that the ongoing operations are focused on the support base of overground workers, following the registration of cases. “We have conducted searches across all districts of Jammu division. A large number of people have been questioned, and searches will continue against terrorists and their supporters,” he added.
Highlighting the progress of these efforts, Jain confirmed that over 50 locations have been searched in various districts. “Cracking down on terrorist operatives and their infrastructure remains a priority,” Jain said.
Action against terrorists operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is also ongoing. “We have attached properties of seven individuals operating from Pakistan and PoK. Further action against others is in progress,” he stated. Jain also mentioned that cases related to recent terrorist attacks are under investigation.
In light of a recent rise in terror activities, a special unit of the National Security Guard (NSG), India’s premier counter-terrorism force, has been stationed in Jammu. This deployment, under the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), is aimed at strengthening the security apparatus.
“We are receiving support from specialized forces, including the NSG. The deployment of the NSG has taken place, and we are ready to face any eventuality,” Jain assured.
In a recent operation, the Doda Police arrested a hardcore terror associate, Firdous Ahmed Wani, a resident of Mangota Marmat in Doda, who was allegedly attempting to revive terrorism in the area. “The accused was in constant touch with his terrorist handlers through various social media channels and was trying to create a foothold for anti-national elements in Doda,” said Jain.
Following the arrest, a thorough search of Wani’s residence led to the recovery of incriminating material and documents. “A case, FIR No. 173/2024, has been registered against him under Sections 147, 148, 150, and 152 BNS at Police Station Bhaderwah,” Jain added.
