Srinagar, Aug 07: As part of its intensified drive against narcotics, Police along with Revenue Department and Excise Department conducted joint operations in Sopore and Awantipora Police districts, leading to the destruction of a large quantity of wild bung (cannabis).A statement issued here said that in Sopore, the operation covered stretches of roadside state land from Behrampora to Marazigund and Watergam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha. The drive was conducted in presence of Tehsildar Watergam, officials of Excise Department, and local civil society members, ensuring community participation. In a similar action in Awantipora, Police along with officers from Excise Department destroyed wild cannabis Approx. 05 Kanals at Awantipora. This initiative forms part of a broader crackdown on the cultivation and availability of narcotic substances, with an aim to safeguard the youth from the perils of drug abuse. J&K Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and illegal cultivation. Citizens are encouraged to report such illegal activities and be partners in building a drug-free society.
