Poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef releases humorous poetry collection at Senior Citizens Center in Chanapora

Srinagar, July 15: Poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef unveiled his latest collection of humorous poetry, titled “Bouzie Na Kaensi Zaeree,” at the Ahata Waqaar in Chanaporaon Saturday. 
This event took place in the presence of a distinguished gathering of senior citizens, who attended the release ceremony at the Day Care & Recreation Center for senior citizens. The center, established by the Jammu and Kashmir Government in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (SLSA), aims to promote “Ageing with dignity.”
During the ceremony, the speakers emphasized the significance of establishing the “Ahata Waqar” senior citizens center, which caters to the well-being and support of elderly individuals. They acknowledged that senior citizens are repositories of knowledge and experience, whose guidance greatly benefits society. The speakers stressed the importance of providing a congenial atmosphere and vibrant platform for senior citizens to share their experiences for the betterment of society.
Furthermore, the speakers praised Zareef Ahmad Zareef for his efforts in promoting social awakening through his poetry and mass movement.
In his address, Zareef Ahmad Zareef emphasized the need to eliminate prevalent social evils and preserve Kashmir’s 5000-year-old coherent civilization. He called for soul searching and self-introspection, urging every individual to shoulder their responsibilities and duties towards the betterment and preservation of society. Apart from being a prominent poet and writer in Kashmir, Zareef Ahmad Zareef is associated with multifaceted social activities, serving as the Chairman of Ahad Zargar Memorial Research Foundation, Valley Citizens Council Kashmir, Ghulam Ahmad Sofi Memorial Trust, and Member of the Advisory Board of Saitya Academy Kashmir and the Care Concern Forum. He also serves as the Chairman of the Chinar Committee Kashmir.
DSWO Mukhtar Ahmad, speaking at the event, announced that the upcoming World Senior Citizen’s Day on August 21st would be celebrated with great enthusiasm in various locations across the district of Srinagar. He assured the attendees that a physiotherapy club and a modern senior citizens center would be established shortly in the Chanapora area.
Prominent figures such as Justice Jehangir Bukhari, Secretary of SLSA, Srinagar; Mukhtar Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Srinagar; Ab Gani Parray, Chairman of Ahata Waqaar, Chanapora; Khazir Mohd Trag, Secretary of Ahata Waqar; writer and poet Mushtaq Mehram; educationist Prof. Qazi Altaf; Sufi Poet Khurshid Ahmad Zargar, son of the late famous Sufi poet Abdul Ahad Zargar; renowned writer Hameed Siraj; and former Deputy Secretary of the Civil Secretariat, Manzoor Ahmad, were among the prominent personalities who graced the occasion.
