Jammu, Feb 13: The schedule for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Jammu & Kashmir has been finalized for February 20. During his visit, the PM will inaugurate various projects and address a massive public rally in Udhampur district.
This was informed by Union Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dr Jitendra Singh, while speaking to reporters in Udhampur.
He said the Prime Minister’s itinerary includes the inauguration of several significant projects, such as the prestigious AIIMS at Vijaypur in Samba district, the highest railway bridge over the Chenab in Reasi district, the Devika project in Udhampur, IIM Jammu, and the Shahpur-Kandi Dam project, among others.
“We wanted that the Prime Minister must visit J&K before the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” the union minister said.
Dr Singh reiterated, “PM Modi will launch various projects and address a public meeting at Udhampur during his visit to J&K on February 20.”
Among the notable inaugurations during the visit will be the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Vijaypur in Samba, the highest railway bridge over the Chenab in Reasi district, the Devika project in Udhampur, IIM Jammu, and the Shahpur-Kandi Dam project.
The 1.3 km Chenab rail bridge, situated 359 meters above the river bed, is a crucial link in the 111-km stretch from Katra to Banihal. It stands 35 meters higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and is part of the ongoing prestigious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project.
