Srinagar, Jan 18: Under the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), relaunched with fresh registrations across all districts of Kashmir, a total of 5,130 registrations have been completed in the first week of its three-month registration period.
The Government of India initiated PMAY-G 2.0 to cover additional rural households under the scheme, with registrations being conducted through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile application. This phase aims to address rural housing needs over the next five years, with a target of constructing two crore houses.
According to Shabir Hussain, Director, Rural Development Department (RDD) Kashmir, the entire process for PMAY-G 2.0 is now online, offering two options for registration: self-survey and assisted survey.
“In every Panchayat Halqa, designated surveyors will help eligible beneficiaries in the registration process and register them accordingly,” he said.
He further said that eligible beneficiaries can register themselves through the self-survey option, and their details will be processed by the department. For those unable to complete the self-survey, assistance is available through panchayat secretaries under the assisted survey option.
“We are in the initial stages of the process and have successfully generated awareness among the public about the self-survey option. For those unable to manage the process independently, the assisted survey provides additional support,” director RDD said.
He said that so far, 5,130 registrations have been completed in Kashmir through both self and assisted surveys. Anantnag has recorded the highest number of registrations at 1,840.
“The self-survey feature introduced in the second phase has resulted in 1,010 registrations, offering a simple, user-friendly process. Meanwhile, the assisted survey has recorded 4,120 registrations in just a few days,” Director RDD added.
