Shopian, Aug 03: A district-level event under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shopian on Sunday.A statement issued here said that the programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 150 progressive farmers from across the district and was graced by prominent dignitaries including MLA Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, District Development Council (DDC) Members, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Shopian, Prof Zaffar Afroz Badri, other scientists and staff of KVK Shopian. MLA Shopian, applauded the Kendra’s efforts in strengthening the agricultural ecosystem through technical training, innovative practices, and direct farmer engagement.Prof. Badri highlighted the centre’s role in providing technical support, building farmer capacity, and disseminating knowledge under various flagship schemes. Live demonstrations and farmer success stories showcased the tangible benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme and allied initiatives. A special highlight of the event was the live virtual interaction of the Prime Minister with farmers across the nation, where he reiterated the vision of “Samriddhi through Samman”, encouraging farmers to adopt climate-resilient and sustainable farming techniques. Several farmers shared their positive experiences under the PM-Kisan scheme, which provides Rs.6,000 annual direct income support to small and marginal farmers.
