Sopore, Dec 27: To curb power theft and promote responsible electricity consumption, the SE, O&M Circle, Sopore, has called on consumers to use power judiciously and settle their bills promptly through bank counters or the Bill Sahuliyat platform.
Er Habib Chowdhary said the ongoing day and night inspections across north Kashmir are going on to deter illegal electricity usage.
While acknowledging that not all consumers engage in power theft, he mentioned that various instances have been identified, leading to fines being imposed.
Addressing residents of Baramulla, Sopore, Handwara, Tangmarg, Pattan, and surrounding areas, the SE urged them to utilise electricity responsibly and ensure timely payment of bills.
To streamline the process, he recommended the use of the Bill Sahuliyat app, which provides a convenient and time-saving alternative to avoid long queues at billing centres.
Er Habib also warned against unauthorised connections and hooking, saying the authorities will impose heavy fines for such practices.
