Budgam, May 22: A Power Development Department (PDD) daily wager on Wednesday lost his life due to electrocution in the Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to a police official from Police Station Pattan, the deceased, identified as Ghulam Mohammad Wani, a 50-year-old resident of Seeri Dangperpora Pattan, was electrocuted while fixing a smart meter.
Following the electrocution, Wani fell to the ground and was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital Pattan for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“A report of the incident has been registered at the Police Station Pattan,” the official informed.
Residents from Wani’s village have urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide compensation and job opportunities to the affected family, saying there is no one else to support them.
