Budgam, Sept 23: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed ur Rehman Para, along with Haji Ghulam Ahmad Khan, the party’s candidate, held a roadshow through several villages in the Beerwah Assembly Constituency on Monday.
Accompanied by supporters and party workers, Khan and Para received a warm welcome from the locals.
Addressing the media persons during the roadshow, Para claimed that the political dynamics across all assembly constituencies in Budgam district are shifting in favour of the PDP.
“The people are ready to elect their local representatives in the upcoming elections, choosing individuals committed to the community’s welfare and who will maintain open communication with the public. This time, the residents of Budgam and Beerwah Assembly constituencies are prepared to elect Aga Muntazir Mehdi and Haji Ghulam Ahmad Khan on September 25,” he said.
Para said that since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, the PDP and its president, Mehbooba Mufti, have been at the forefront of voicing concerns and advocating for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “This is the reason why the electorate in the five assembly constituencies of Budgam district firmly supports the PDP in this election,” he said.
The PDP leader called for the release of Sarjan Barkati and his wife from incarceration, saying the government should free all political prisoners and withdraw charges against them throughout Jammu & Kashmir.
He said the PDP demands the release of all Kashmiri youths detained in various jails outside the region and the dismissal of politically motivated charges against them.
“Our party believes that the government should release all the youth of Kashmir who are currently detained in various jails outside of Jammu & Kashmir and drop all charges against political prisoners, enabling them to reunite with their families,” Para said.
