Srinagar, Mar 04: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached the properties of a slain Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, according to officials. He was shot dead in Rawalpindi on February 21.
The NIA action comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) India declared Bashir Peer as a “terrorist ” under the UAPA, a stringent act enacted to control terrorist activities.
NIA spokesman said continuing the strong action against terrorists operating from Pakistan soil, the property of slain terrorist Bashir Ahmed Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam was attached on Saturday.
“Peer’s agricultural land measuring 3 Kanals has been attached under the provisions of UA(P) Act. Representatives of the State government and State Police assisted the process,” the spokesman said.
The move comes days after NIA seized properties of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorist commander Basit Reshi’s in Sopore and Mushtaq Zargar @ Latram, the founder and Chief Commander of Al-Umar Mujahideen in Srinagar.
The NIA spokesman said they attached two land plots of slain terrorist at Baghpora and Panzgam areas, measuring over three kanals belonging to Bashir Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam.
He said Peer who was reportedly in charge of launching terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir through Line of Control, was designated a terrorist by the Centre on October 4 last year under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his role in terror activities.
He had participated in several online propaganda groups to unite ex-terrorists and other cadres for the expansion of activities of Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and other terrorist organisations.
