.Srinagar, Jan 17: The birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs, was celebrated with religious zeal and traditional fervour across the Valley on Wednesday. The celebration saw the organisation of bhajans, kirtans, and ardaas in honour of the revered Guru, accompanied by the serving of langar throughout the day.
The main celebration was held at Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara, wherein hundreds of men, women, and children gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of the tenth Guru with immense enthusiasm.
On the occasion, Sikh devotees offered special prayers, beseeching an end to the dry spell in the Kashmir Valley. Pardeep Singh, a devotee at Chatti Padshahi, highlighted that specific prayers were conducted, specifically seeking the occurrence of snowfall in the region.
Adding to the significance of the celebration, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, participated in the festivities in Srinagar. Addressing the gathering at a Gurdwara, Bidhuri prayed for peace and prosperity in the region.
Reflecting on the diversity of religious celebrations in the Kashmir Valley, he remarked, “This is the beauty of the Kashmir Valley where all festivals are being celebrated with religious fervor.”
Special arrangements were made by authorities outside Gurudwaras to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. A Sikh devotee emphasised the need to follow in the footsteps of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and draw inspiration from his sacrifices for the well-being of humanity, transcending communal boundaries.
Underlining the contemporary relevance of Guru Ji’s teachings, the devotee stressed that prosperity would follow if people embraced and applied these teachings in their lives.
