Jammu, Apr 02: In a significant development in the investigation of the Thanamandi terror attack case, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu and Kashmir has filed a charge sheet before the designated court against Sabar Hussain for harbouring terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF), who were involved in the brutal killing of Mohd Razaq.

The case pertains to an incident that occurred on April 22, 2024, when unidentified terrorists forcibly entered the residence of Mohd Razaq at Kunda, Shahdara Sharief, Thanamandi, and opened indiscriminate fire. Mohd Razaq succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while his brother, Tahir Khurshid alias Tahir Fauji, a Territorial Army jawan, sustained injuries, the SIA said in a statement issued here.

Following the incident, Police Station Thanamandi registered a case and initiated an investigation. Assessing the sensitivity of the incident, it was transferred to the SIA for in-depth investigation. During the course of the investigation, crucial evidence was recovered from the scene, and statements of key witnesses were recorded under relevant provisions of law.

"It was established during investigations that Sabar Hussain, son of Mohd Rashid, a resident of Khabalwali, Shahdara Sharief (presently residing in Chamrer, Surankote, District Poonch), provided shelter, food, and logistical support to three LeT/TRF terrorists at his seasonal hut in Chamrer during late June to early July 2024, thereby facilitating the execution of the terror attack," the statement said. "Accordingly, prima facie offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, have been established against the accused, and the case stands charge sheeted."

The filing of the charge sheet marks a crucial step in dismantling terror support networks and reaffirms the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensure justice and security in the region, the SIA said.
