Srinagar, Apr 6 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir's Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Monday said the proposed women's reservation bill will serve as a "lesson" for its critics, asserting that women across sectors have already proven their mettle through honesty and dedication.
Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) minister Sakina Itoo congratulated "all Indian sisters" and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, urging them to be prepared for the opportunities the bill would unlock once passed by Parliament.
"Those who think that they cannot do it, those who do criticism, there will be a lesson for them when this reservation bill comes," she said.
The minister highlighted that women are already at the forefront in key departments, including education, health, and ICDS.
"If we look today, our sisters are at the top - in our faculty, in the health sector, among our doctors. Most of our sisters work in them and move forward with honesty," minister Itoo said.
Drawing parallels with iconic figures including Rani of Jhansi, Indira Gandhi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Priyanka Gandhi, she expressed hope that women would continue to work with sincerity.
"I welcome this reservation bill," minister Itoo said, expressing confidence that it would help suppress attempts to hold women back. (KNS)
