Srinagar, Apr 02: The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a fresh survey to identify houseless and landless families excluded from earlier lists under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), with a focus on facilitating land allotment to eligible households across the Union Territory.
The information was shared by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javed Ahmad Dar, in the J&K Assembly in response to a question by Pulwama MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Thursday regarding verification or re-surveys to identify such families.
Dar confirmed that a fresh exercise has been undertaken. “Yes, a fresh survey has been conducted to identify eligible houseless and landless families who were left out during earlier surveys under PMAY-G Phase-I,” he said, adding that the exercise is part of the PMAY-G 2.0 survey conducted through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile application in line with prescribed guidelines.
The minister said the ongoing survey has identified a total of 5,02,930 cases. Verification of surveyed households is being carried out at district and block levels to prevent exclusion errors. Land is being facilitated for landless beneficiaries through coordination with the Revenue Department, following due verification and PMAY-G norms.
Dar further stated that regular monitoring and review meetings are being held at the Union Territory, district, and block levels to expedite the process and ensure timely completion. “Timelines are being adhered to as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India,” he said.
According to the government, 3,34,639 beneficiaries have already been identified under PMAY-G in Jammu and Kashmir, while land has been allotted in 507 cases so far.
