SRINAGAR , APRIL 10: Returning to his roots, newly appointed DIG Traffic Kashmir, Haseeb Ur Rehman (IPS), has signaled a high-tech and high-touch overhaul of the region's transit landscape.

In a strategic summit with the J&K AIMTC, BARS, and civil society, Rehman pivoted toward a vision of collective digital action and deep-rooted community reform.

The Vision: High-Tech, Low-Risk

Rehman, the architect of Srinagar’s 2010 traffic foundations, is now integrating cutting-edge tech to combat rising road fatalities:

AI Integration: Utilizing Artificial Intelligence to predict congestion and optimize flow.

ITMS Deployment: Rolling out a robust Integrated Traffic Management System for real-time monitoring.

Safety First: Prioritizing tech-driven enforcement to achieve a zero-fatality framework.

The Social Compact: IEC & Awareness

Beyond technology, the DIG emphasized that modern mobility requires a behavioral shift. He called for a massive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)campaign to disseminate safety awareness at every level. This mission relies on:

Multilateral Collaboration: Partnering with NGOs, the education sector, and community leaders.

Civic Responsibility: Engaging "all walks of life" to act as responsible citizens.

Youth Safety: Rehman specifically flagged underage, reckless, and negligent driving as critical challenges, vowing that a "drastic change" would be visible on the streets very soon.

"Technology supports us, but collective effort sustains us. It is the duty of every individual to ensure our roads are safe. Through unified action, we will deliver a world-class system." DIG Haseeb Ur Rehman said.
