Srinagar, Jul 07: National Conference (NC) leader Ajeet Bhagat, who also serves as the party’s spokesperson or Chenab Valley Zone, has accused certain unscrupulous leaders of attempting to derail the Rattle Hydroelectric Project in Kishtwar, a national project, through blackmail and unrest under the pretext of union activities. In a statement issued here, Bhagat called for immediate action against such elements, asserting that they pose a threat to peace in the region. He accused these “self-styled” leaders of constantly blackmailing and spreading unrest under the guise of unions, which hampers the progress of the project and disrupts peace.“If swift measures are not taken, the situation could escalate beyond control in the future,” he warned. The NC leader called for the immediate application of the Public Safety Act (PSA) against these individuals, regardless of their activities under the banner of unions. “No one should be allowed to engage in blackmail or disruptive activities,” he said.Bhagat added that the management of the project is fed up with such actions, which have been attempting to sabotage the project and create a hostile environment, similar to past incidents. “The registration of all unions supporting such elements should be canceled to prevent further disruptions,” he said.
