Baramulla, Apr 18: The Baramulla unit of the National Conference organised a mega workers’ convention in Uri on Thursday, drawing thousands of enthusiastic workers. The event also witnessed the induction of hundreds of new political workers into the National Conference fold, the party said.
Chaired by Dr Sajjad Shafi, the district in-charge of National Conference Baramulla, the convention saw the participation of various party officials, including Tehsil in-charges, block in-charges, youth presidents, and other party workers.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the convention, Dr Sajjad highlighted the heightened enthusiasm among the workers following the party’s decision to field Omar Abdullah as its candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from the Baramulla constituency.
He expressed confidence in the National Conference’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming elections, despite the strategic maneuvers of other political parties in the region. “While other parties may form alliances to counter the National Conference, the voters are well aware of the party’s commitment to representing their interests,” Dr Shafi said. “We will fight for the identity of Kashmiri people, and these A, B, or C teams will not affect the National Conference anymore.”
